Painkillers May Be Making Your Fibromyalgia Worse

Chronic Pain Management Rather Than Cure

Instead of only relying on pain medications for fibromyalgia pain relief, more focus should be placed on pain management.

In recent years, there has been a move toward pain management clinics in the United States. Pain clinics have teams of health professionals – psychologists, physical therapists and anesthetists. They show patients how to deal with (rather than cure) their pain.

Chronic pain is more of a lifestyle issue than a medical one. Pain clinics look at the physical side of pain and its psychological impact. They teach patients how to manage pain in their everyday life. A holistic approach is often the best and safest option.

All very well and good to say that chronic pain is a lifestyle problem rather than a a medical one. That’s rubbish. It depends on what the source of the pain is. Medicine hasn’t focused enough on finding answers to treating fibro myalgia. In the meantime, yes, try to help yourself with drug free alternatives but they are often ineffective too. And why don’t you recommend herbs and supplements? I have personal experience of using them and they are effective.
