Serotonin Dysregulation

Some research suggests that fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome are both a result of serotonin dysregulation. This means that the patients either do not have enough of it or that their body is not capable of using it properly due to some reasons.

Below are the symptoms of serotonin dysregulation:

  • Changes in appetite
  • Changes in libido
  • Depression
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Fatigue even if you have adequate rest
  • Headaches
  • Hot flushes and changes in temperature
  • Irritable
  • Mood disturbance

When the level of serotonin in your body is extremely low, you will experience several other symptoms aside from those that were mentioned above. These symptoms can include the following:

  • Bowel and bladder problems
  • Emotional numbness
  • Emotional or behavioral outbursts
  • Escape fantasies
  • Memory torture (you tend to dwell or relieve the most traumatic experiences in your life)
  • Muscle cramps
  • Rapid and uncontrolled thought processes
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or other people
