Limitations of Current Fibromyalgia Diagnosis
The downside to a traditional diagnosis is that symptoms are not always specific to the condition. Chronic pain that radiates through your entire body is a trademark of the disease but accompanying symptoms can vary widely from patient to patient. Since fibromyalgia symptoms also coincide with that of other health issues, it makes it even more difficult for doctors to reach a definitive diagnosis within a reasonable amount of time.
Through recent research, scientists have found blood tests that may be the answers to bypassing all of the uncertainty. These new blood tests will give them a way to pinpoint the condition as the cause of their patient’s pain. It will also give sufferers peace of mind since often times they are made to feel like their condition is psychological.
