Capsaicin for Fibromyalgia

Pain Studies

Some studies were only done on specific types of pain instead of a specific condition. These pain types are involved in fibromyalgia and can also be a part of the chronic fatigue syndrome.

Nociceptive Hypersensitivity

A portion of the pain that is involved in these conditions is said to have come from the overactive nociceptors. These are specialized nerve endings in the skin that would gather information regarding temperature, pain, and some other environmental factors.

In 2015, a study on Molecular Pain has shown that a single dose of capsaicin can help to alleviate nociceptive hypersensitivity. The study has also shown that capsaicin can help to inhibit pain, where your brain will prepare or adjust to the painful stimuli. Medical experts believe that pain inhibition in fibromyalgia is dysregulated.
