Fibromyalgia Myth: Fibromyalgia and Arthritis Are the Same Conditions
The Truth – Arthritis, and fibromyalgia have little things in common except for the fact that both conditions involve sensations of fatigue and pain.
Unlike arthritis, fibromyalgia does not specifically affect the joints. Instead, it affects the soft tissues and muscles. Furthermore, unlike arthritis and some other rheumatic disorders, fibromyalgia is not considered an inflammatory disease. As a matter of fact, the markers of inflammation among fibromyalgia patients seem to be normal.
So unlike arthritis, the pain in fibromyalgia does not come from the inflamed area of the body. Usually, the pain originate from the brain or from the central nervous system.
