Fibromyalgia Myth: It is All in Your Head

The Truth – The fibromyalgia pain and other symptoms that a patient feel are all too real.

According to some health experts, fibromyalgia is a condition that will trigger chronic and widespread pain in the muscles. Unfortunately, most patients will only see a doctor after several months or years of experiencing the symptoms.

Yet many health professionals are still having a hard time understanding this condition. If your knee, shoulder, or elbow will hurt, doctors will immediately assume that the pathology affects those areas directly. However, this is not the case with fibromyalgia because the pain will usually stem from the brain.

The misunderstanding of the origin of the pain in fibromyalgia is one of the reasons why this condition has become very controversial. This is also the reason why people would often say, “it’s all in your head”.
