Discontinuation
Discontinuing your use of SNRIs and SSRIs come with its own risks. Stopping your use of these medications immediately will make you susceptible to a condition known as the discontinuation syndrome. Therefore, you must consult with your doctor if you plan on discontinuing your use of these drugs.
Below are the symptoms of a discontinuation syndrome:
- Dizziness
- Anxiety and agitation
- Vivid dreams
- Tingling sensations
- Sensory disturbances
- Nausea
- Muscle pain
- Irritability
- Insomnia
- Fatigue
- Electric shock sensations
These symptoms range from minor to debilitating. Since most of these symptoms can also be found on FMS and CFS, some people would mistake them as symptoms of these conditions even though they are a result of your discontinuation of these drugs. See your doctor immediately if you’ve got any concerns.
