Emotional Symptoms of Low Serotonin
On top of all the physical symptoms, serotonin plays an enormous role in a person’s emotional health. Low serotonin in fibromyalgia can significantly affect a person’s emotional health. Often, a person with low serotonin will show a variety of depressive symptoms including:
- Sadness and frequent crying
- Low self-esteem or low self-confidence, and feeling emotionally raw and sensitive.
- Irritability
- Behaving impulsively
- Social withdrawal
- Low sex drive
- Anxiety
- Poor memory
When a person is dealing with the stressful symptoms of fibromyalgia, having low serotonin can make things even more difficult to manage.
