How to Treat and Prevent Nausea
There are a wide variety of treatments available to treat your nausea and keep it from coming back. It’s important that you discuss with your doctor what would be the best option for you. Among the medications that will be prescribed are:
- Antihistamines – this medicine works by blocking the histamine receptors of your body. They will specifically block your brain’s vomiting signals and will therefore prevent nausea.
- Emetrol – this can be obtained without doctor’s prescription. Aside from nausea, it is also used to treat upset stomach and vomiting.
Aside from taking medications, making some changes in your diet could help prevent your symptoms of nausea. Increasing intake of starchy foods can help to absorb the excess acid in your stomach which can cause stomach upset and nausea. Avoid acidic food or drinks which includes citrus fruits and juices as they are known to increase nausea. If you’re vomiting or feeling nauseated, try to stay hydrated as much as possible.

Is dizziness also caused by fibromyalgia?
I have just suffered The MOTHER of all flare ups following Bariatric surgery.
All of the symptoms you’ve given with nausea but like I’ve never experienced before!
It was accompanied by a vile smell and taste of chemicals. I didn’t know how else to describe it.
I thought I was imagining the chemical smells and tastes! I’m so glad to hear I’m not alone. My doctor has been telling me my chronic nausea and vomiting is due to post nasal drip, but I’ve been on antihistamines, decongestants and zofran. And I’m still feeling the same and experiencing the chemical smells and tastes.
Hello lorraine i hope you are doing fine by this day, i had all those symptoms very strong, and gradually they have become better, now i can work again and i’m trying to go ahead with my life. Don’t get desperate, specially with pain, anxiety, nausea and strong smells from common things. Eat fresh, natural, and avoid any processed food (really that is a challenge) geetings. Joseph.
Hi all with Nausea !! It was everyday for about two years I mean every time I passed a sink toilet or trash basket I felt like I was going to barf !! I hate this feeling. I found that 50mg of Hydroxizine did the trick even if I had a food intolarence (to which I have many just depends on the day) I would take that and it would ease up and it was a miracle for me.
I still have it from time to time mostly when I am warn out and just do not realize it. It is the thing that causes me to pause, slow down, take it easy and be nurturing to myself.
I journaled for years to find my weak links. I am sure now that any deviation from my program is a potential problem so when I travel I plan fo this and the IBS !!
The only symptom I can not deal with via medication or PT , meditation or even some other Homeopathic medicine or even essential oils I practically live with them daily in a diffuser is pain. Heat helps sometimes but only a hot water bottle !!
Hope this helps and if anyone has any other tips for pain please email me I would so appreciate it. I was taking Vicodin but as it stands now this is unavailable to me where I am now living. I totally understand we have a problem in this Country but my God did no one think about what if these do not work any longer no one planned for that. Except Lyrica, Neuronton, Cymbalta, and a few other Antidepressants that do absolutely nothing but put additional weight on you causing more pain it throws everything into a tail spin. I have tried them all more than three times in the last twenty plus years I have been dealing with this.
Be well, live and let live , accept the things you cannot change !!
Love yourself up out of bed. Moving is really the key to some of the pain but not always !!
Blessings …
Jan,
Thank you for sharing your experience. We totally agree that Antidepressants are not ideal because of the side effects of weight gain. We worked on a series of Fibromyalgia Pain Tips that focuses on natural ways to relieve pain. Hope some of the tips can be helpful to you. You can find them in this link:

I am not sure where you live but if you are where you can get medical marijuana I would encourage you to try this for pain. For pain you can get CBD cannabis oil which will only work on the pain but does not include THC which is the part that gives people the high.
Look into this
I don’t get nausea often but when I do it’s accompanied by dry heaves, which is not fun.
And, for those of you that have the chemical taste and smell check ur medications, you might be taking stuff that you shouldn’t be taking with others. And check ur water. Good luck and hope you have a pain free day
Could anyone tell me if LDN causes nausea, I have been on LDN 5mg for 3 weeks and have noticed slight nausea at various times of the day/night. Is it a side effect?
I’ve been on LDN 4 mg for almost 2 years now. For over a year, I had no n nausea and now I’ve had i t nearly every day for 7 months. I cannot figure out what is causing it at all, but it’s not the LDN. LDN allows me to get out of bed every day and move…really helps the CFS! Good luck!
I live in Arizona and am dealing with the awesome but debilitating monsoon season. With fibromyalgia yes I have migraines and with monsoons come migraines that’s when nausea really hits me. I have gone through some really tough flare ups in the last month but right now what accompanies my flare-ups is this terrible diarrhea and stomach cramping! It seems to be a warning of things to come. I may wake up the next day unable to close my fingers into a fist and try make it to the next room while it feels like every bone in my feet are broken, and it feels like I’ve just been hit by a train for the next 2 days. It’s funny how I’ve always loved a good storm!
