Elimination Diet for Fibromyalgia

Reintroducing Foods

As mentioned, the elimination period should last for 5 – 10 days. Commit to the full 10 days if you can as it give your body ample time to respond to the absence of allergens. During this period, do a self evaluation of your body. Pay attention to your pain level, energy level, mental clarity, mood and other symptoms which you grapple with.

Once this period is over, you can start re-introducing the foods in. To reintroduce, gradually introduce one category at a time and wait for 2 – 3 days before you add another food category. Eat a lot of the new foods you have re-introduced. Depending on the type of food and your body, you may start to notice sensitivity-based symptoms in your body within a few hours or days of reintroducing the foods.

But if you noticed sensitivity, remove this food category again. Then wait until your body has recovered from the increased symptoms before you introduce another food category.

This can be a tedious process and will seem like it will take forever. Just try your best to stick with it and remember that this will eventually make you feel better.

I know that I cannot consume artificial sweeteners as well as MSG. I have known about the MSG for over 30 years. I learned about artificial sweeteners about 10 years ago. Eliminating gluten did not change my pain level at all. I tried for 6 months and no improvement. When I reintroduced, my pain level did not increase.
