How Does Capsaicin Help Relieve Pain
This is one theory that can possibly explain how this works – our cells are made of something known as substance P. This is a neurochemical that sends pain signals going to the brain. Capsaicin will push the cells into the tissues that it touches in order to discharge all of the substance P, and this is when you’ll feel a burning pain. When substance P is totally released, the cells won’t be able to send pain signals anymore. Capsaicin works by destroying the pain signals so as to relieve you of pain.
Another possible theory behind this is that Capsaicin may desensitize our peripheral nerves, which is otherwise hypersensitive in people with fibromyalgia or central sensitivity syndromes.
