How To Prevent Fibromyalgia Flare Up?
- Sleep – Getting enough sleep at night also plays a large role in preventing a fibromyalgia flare up, especially since a lack of sleep is a common trigger. If you notice that a flare up happens, when you get less than a certain amount of sleep, it can help by adjusting the sleep schedule.
- Exercising – Exercising regularly has been known to improve symptoms of fibromyalgia. While it might hurt more at first, over time, exercising has been shown to help manage fibromyalgia overall. Always start slow and gradually increase the intensity of your exercises over time. Exercises that are recommended for fibromyalgia patients are low impact activities like walking, swimming, yoga, water aerobics.
It can be particularly tough when external factor such as weather is a trigger, as it is not something that one can control. Likewise, hormones and treatments can also be difficult triggers to cope with. When it comes to fibromyalgia management, focus on the things which you can control and try not to add stress to yourself. Stress and other negative emotions can make symptoms worse.

I have fibromyalgia and just went through a flare up! I hurt from the base of my skull to my toes and some headaches brain fog and didn’t feel good at all! It started April 8 and lasted until May 6. This information is helpful. I can’t take any of the medications that they prescribe because of severe side effects. I am very sensitive to medications. Now I’m having a lot of trouble with my feet ankles and lower legs. I work every day and have always been very active, but as these symptoms worsen I am not able to be myself anymore. That was very hard to accept but I now know my limitations. I truly wish that there was a breakthrough and help that would help us to get back to normal. I swim in the summer but have gained a lot of weight and I hate it! This all began to effect me after they killed my thyroid. I’m not me anymore
