4. Pain in the Muscles
Vitamin D has also been associated with pain in the muscles in both adults and kids. In fact, 71 percent of chronic pain patients exhibited subnormal levels of vitamin D. Studies suggest that lower levels of vitamin D seem to worsen pain and lead to more usage of opioid. The reason behind the link is unclear. However, generally, it is believed that low vitamin D levels increases pain sensitivity. Every cell in our body has a vitamin D receptor and this includes pain-sensing nerve cells. Therefore, inadequate levels of vitamin D somehow disrupts normal pain regulation.
Scientists found that vitamin supplements can provide relief to various kinds of pain in people who lack vitamin D.
