Chemicals which Cause Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
Chemicals exist in our surroundings and even in everyday products which we use, eat or drink. Here are the most common chemical substances that have negative effects on those with MCS:
- Chemicals in tap water
- Cigarette smoke
- Fragrances coming from perfumes, cleaning products, candles, and skincare products
- Gasoline fumes
- Industrial chemicals
- Medications
- Paint fumes
These chemicals can trigger symptoms when the patient gets into contact with them or end up smelling or ingesting them. Not everyone who has MCS is sensitive to similar things. One person may not feel comfortable being in the same room with someone wearing certain perfume or someone who is smoking. On the other hand, he or she will not feel sick when exposed to gasoline smell.
