Causes of Fibromyalgia Foot Pain – Dysfunctional Subtalar Joint
Another study suggests that the subtalar joint, which is located underneath the ankle, can get dysfunctional frequently for those who have fibromyalgia. Of the 20 women who participated, 12 of them were found to have hypermobility or excessive range of motion in their joint, and 5 of them have hypomobility or the limited range of motion in the joint.
However, a study in 2017 has found no abnormalities in the joints of the ankles, feet, and legs of the 50 patients with fibromyalgia. This area needs further research before it can be determined if fibromyalgia patients are more likely to experience joint problems that can lead to foot pain.
