Nightshade Vegetables

Nightshade vegetables are thought to cause or aggravate the symptoms in fibromyalgia patients. They are a class of vegetable containing a compound called solanine. A reaction to solanine triggers muscle aches and joint pains which can take effect almost instantly. Nightshade vegetables include bell peppers, eggplant, white potatoes and tomatoes. In particular, eggplants are especially known to cause migraines. Other side effects of a nightshade reaction are fatigue and weakness which may last days.

Tip: Quit smoking! Tobacco can also cause nightshade reactions even if it is not consumed.
