Fibromyalgia incidences seem to be highest during a women’s peak reproductive years leading many researches to believe that female hormones determine the greater likelihood and increase severity of the syndrome. It has been reported many times that women experience more pain before and during their period. Estrogen levels severely decrease during this time and estrogen is believed to protect women from pain. Low levels of estrogen lead to increased pain.
