Are the Two Conditions Connected?
A lot of fibromyalgia patients are interested to know if they have cervical dystonia. Some patients with cervical dystonia are also wondering if the symptoms they have are due to fibromyalgia.
The answer can be yes or no. Not everyone who has cervical dystonia has fibromyalgia and vice versa. But it is worth noting that there are several studies showing that these two conditions are more evident to those who have either any of the conditions. In one study, it was found that those who have fibromyalgia are highly susceptible to cervical dystonia and those with cervical dystonia are at high risk of developing fibromyalgia.
While the Cervical Dystonia and Fibromyalgia are similar in so many ways, it is important for your doctor to determine if only one of these conditions affect you or both. That way, the treatment plan will depend on the condition that needs to be treated.
