Sugar

Following yeast, the next worst food in the list is one that promotes the proliferation of the former. Sugar, in the form of refined carbohydrates or sweet treats, creates an environment for the growth of yeast. Eliminating or reducing sugar intake could hence prevent yeast overgrowth which is common in fibromyalgia patients. Additionally, it was found that people suffering from chronic pain are more likely to crave for sugar which can surge insulin levels and aggravate pain. Doctors and nutritionists recommend a high protein, low-carb, low-sugar diet for fibromyalgia patients.

Tip: If you're craving sugar, have a slice of fresh fruit instead.
