Preventive products are not required

The vagina doesn’t need help with douches, scented gels, perfumes, and other items for women, in order to stay clean. Gynecologists, often refer to it as a “self-cleaning oven”, so if you continue using products for keeping it dry and clean, it could lead to an imbalance of the healthy bacteria in your vagina, which in turn makes you more vulnerable to a yeast infection.

Yeast infection is not caused by sex

Yeast infections are not a sexually transmitted infection (STI), but sexual intercourse can result in bacterial imbalance in the vagina, which as discussed above, could risk a yeast overgrowth. If you have had sex with a new partner, and experience worrying symptoms, visit the doctor to be on the safe side. You can also check off potential new STIs.

Changing birth control pills may cause yeast infection

Switching such medication or too much stress can mess with your hormone levels. Taking antibiotics is problematic as well, since it destroys healthy bacteria in the vagina, and leaves it susceptible to yeast infection.
