Fibromyalgia is typified by pain all over the body, in the muscles and joints. The common pain areas are just above or below the waist, in the neck and shoulders. As these symptoms aren't restricted only to fibromyalgia, misdiagnosis with fibromyalgia is highly likely. Furthermore, chronic fatigue, another chief symptom with fibromyalgia, is also seen in other medical conditions.
Here are some symptoms common to fibromyalgia and other medical conditions:
• Memory fog and difficulty thinking
• Morning stiffness
• Disturbed sleep
• Tension headaches and migraine
• Sensitivity to light, temperature and noise
• Tingling at the extremities
• Urinary problems
Any combination of the above symptoms can be due to other medical conditions, such as:
• Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Lupus
• Hypothyroidism
• Sleep apnea
