Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, An Unorthodox Yet Effective Treatment for Fibromyalgia?

Recent medical research, conducted in Turkey, introduced Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), as an unorthodox treatment for fibromyalgia patients. While studies are still in progress, early findings suggest that HBOT may effectively improve fibromyalgia symptoms to the extend of reducing the number of tender points in patients.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
HBOT uses pressurized oxygen to relieve symptoms and side effects of medical conditions via an oxygen chamber. While it is commonly known as a treatment for decompression sickness experienced by divers, it is used to treat approximately 60 medical conditions including carbon monoxide poisoning and relieving side effects of amputation, head injuries, soft tissue burns, Lyme disease, etc.
