How Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Works?

During HBOT, a patient is consistently given 100% pure, pressurized oxygen. The chief mechanism involved here is called Hyper Oxygenation. As a patient is immersed in this pure form of oxygen, his/her body tissues are under pressure to soak up the enhanced levels of oxygen. Consequently, oxygen enters the blood stream causing a series of biological reactions that help mitigate the pain and treat the condition.

The benefits of undergoing HBOT includes:

  • Improve blood circulation by stimulating new blood cell development

  • Encourages white blood cells to fight infection

  • Constrict some blood vessels, thereby reducing swelling and inflammation

  • Prevents the growth of foreign organisms and bacteria
